July 3

I’m sitting in de Gaulle airport in Paris waiting for my connection to Vienna. For nearly the entire flight across the Atlantic, I re-read Samantha Power’s chapters about Sarajevo and Srebrenica. Although I’ve read these words many times, the immediacy of the horrors was palpable because I’ll be in Sarajevo on Monday morning.

Sarajevo is a place sacred to memory and an outrage to our conscience.

William Proxmire said, “The most lethal pair of foes to human rights are ignorance and indifference.” World Without Genocide has a commitment to education and action, the only tools we can use to combat ignorance and indifference.
